Quartz (also known as “Engineered Quartz”) is made with over 93% natural quartz with polymer resins. Therefore, sealing is not generally required that Natural Stone would need. Its non-porous nature is heat-resistant, and provides a far higher resistance to staining, scratches, and bacteria growth. Quartz has earned a reputation as an almost zero maintenance champion due to its performance.
Quartz countertops are extremely durable, scratch resistant, stain resistant and does not need to be sealed. It does require the least amount of maintenance of the countertop materials, but it is not intended for outside use.
Quartz pricing varies. The price of your quartz will depend on the size of the slab, color, and supplier.
Granite is an ingenious rock that is made up primarily of quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase. It is extremely durable, as it is not easily chipped and heat resistant. Since it is a natural stone there will be a variety of colors and variations for each material.
Granite is relatively easy to maintain due to its durability, but in order to preserve its durability granite countertops must be sealed.
Natural stones such as granite come in an array of colors which leads to variation in pricing. There are various grades of granite each grade falls in between certain price categories.
Marble is a natural stone composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Since it is a natural stone there will be a many color variations and movement with
each piece.
Marble should protected with a sealant designed specifically for porous stone surfaces. Marble is prone to stains even with a sealant, and acidic liquids, such as lemon and tomatoes can etch the stone
